If you have arrived on this page, you and your son or daughter are almost certainly in the process of making an important decision about their schooling that will have a profound influence on their future.
We are as keen as you will be that you have all the information you require to make that choice a well informed and wholly positive one.
We hope you have found this website a good introduction to Amherst life, but we wholeheartedly recommend you attend a Taster Day or Open Morning and also visit on a School day for a personal tour. Together these will give you a real sense of the character and spirit of the School and an opportunity to meet our wonderful staff and pupils, see our facilities and appreciate how Amherst benefits from being part of the family of schools which form the Loughborough Schools Foundation.
Once you have visited the School, met our pupils and staff and feel confident that this could be a School where your son or daughter could thrive, the next step is to consider registering for the Entrance Assessment.
Loughborough Amherst School is less academically selective than Loughborough High School or Loughborough Grammar School. Our overall ability spread is just above the national average for the United Kingdom.
Dependent on space being available in a year group, we will offer a place to anyone who is in the top 90% of the population in terms of overall academic ability (that is, 80 or above in terms of standardised scores).
We have an excellent SEN department and a great track record of helping pupils with dyslexia and other common special educational needs. However, we reserve the right to refuse admission where we feel that an applicant’s needs are of a nature that we would be unable to support them as they truly require.
If you are interested in a place at Loughborough Amherst School for your child, but unsure as to whether they will meet our entrance criteria, please contact our Registrar, Katie Newman, at firstname.lastname@example.org
