Welcome to Loughborough Grammar School
I’d like to offer you a very warm welcome to Loughborough Grammar School - a vibrant school for ambitious boys who like to be busy and fulfilled. Academic achievement will always be our central focus, but we deliver an all-round first class education where an extraordinary range of opportunities ensures that each boy can learn where he is in his element.
During their journey through the School, they have unparalleled opportunities to develop their passions and skills, so that they get to know themselves and acquire the emotional intelligence needed to thrive. Visitors to the School often remark on how the boys they have met are ‘confident without ever appearing arrogant’. This is what sets them and us apart.
Firstly, we know how to teach boys. Our teaching is focused on experiential learning where boys deepen their knowledge by doing. At the Grammar School however, the division between the academic and the extra-curricular is far from absolute, as there are so many opportunities for learning that occur outside the classroom. Everywhere you look, you discover a school bursting with activity, where boys have huge respect for the varied talents of their peers and learn as much outside the classroom as within. It is this happy fusion of work and play that is our implicit hallmark.
Educating generations of achievers
Established in 1495, Loughborough Grammar School is one of the UK’s oldest Independent schools. We are proud of our long and successful heritage. We delight in those traditions that keep the spirit of the School alive without constraining us from embracing modern day life.yes There will always be opportunities for you to be the best you can possibly be academically.
Welcoming boys. Nurturing young gentlemen.
We offer single sex education because we believe that boys focus better on their education and learning in a boys’ only environment. Based on a mixed sex campus there are plenty of opportunities for boys and girls to interact. They travel to School on the same buses, they enjoy Music and Drama together in our state-of-the-art facilities, and they share common extra-curricular activities such as CCF and academic societies.yes The School lets boys be themselves and find themselves
A history of academic achievement
We equip boys with a broad portfolio of skills which allows them to excel in public examinations and access the top universities and the courses of their choice. More than that, our curriculum trains our boys to be independent learners who love study and have the self-discipline and motivation to aim high and to realise their potential.yes It's cool to succeed
So much more than another department, Loughborough Schools Music is the joyous soundtrack that infuses life at all the Schools within the Foundation.
Housed in a purpose-built space, it is a vibrant musical hub with a constant creative buzz. From Pre-Prep to Sixth Form, every pupil has the opportunity, encouragement and very finest tuition to explore their musical passions, achieve their very best and perform at the highest level.
