Welcome to The Loughborough Schools Foundation
Chief Operating Officer
It is incredible to think that parents and pupils have been welcomed here since 1495 with the opening of the Grammar School within Loughborough's Parish Church.
In the ensuing five hundred plus years we have come a long way, but without ever losing sight of our pedigree, our commitment to serve Loughborough and the wider community, and our steadfast beliefs to balance academic achievement with moral guidance, happiness, opportunity and a kindred spirit within which everyone is known, understood and valued.
We believe, with some justification, that there really is nowhere quite like it in independent education. We are a progressive, charitable Foundation comprised of a Nursery, two complementary Prep Schools and three highly achieving Senior Schools, equipped to meet all educational needs, including those who require extra support and care from six weeks old all the way to eighteen years of age.
I hope you enjoy learning more about our unique Foundation and that you will find in our Schools today, what our forebearers also wanted to create; to be the School our parents would wish for, our pupils love and thrive in, our staff are proud of and our community values and embraces.
Four wonderful independent Schools and a thriving Nursery in one beautiful campus
Welcome to our unique Foundation. A family of Schools united in providing every one of our pupils and students with an education to cherish.
A School for life
From the earliest age you and your child or children can feel settled and known within one Foundation of Schools, potentially all the way from the Nursery from six weeks old, through Fairfield or Amherst Prep Schools and on to exam success at eighteen in our choice of Senior Schools.no
More choice. More opportunity. More fun
Be free to choose the most appropriate educational journey for your son or daughter. You can select the academic benefits of single sex education at The Grammar School for boys and The High School for girls; both historic seats of learning committed to helping young children to become the very best version of themselves. Or choose co-education at the non-selective Amherst School, a wonderfully kind, supportive and stimulating environment with small class sizes and an exceptionally high teacher to pupil ratio.no
Excellence you will value
Enjoy the very real benefits of our being one Foundation – providing exceptional facilities across a beautiful shared campus. Our lauded Music department with 'All-Steinway School' status, STEM resources, the very best teaching staff, Forest School, extra-curricular richness, outstanding sports facilities and coaching, nutritious catering and a school wide transport service across our catchment area, are just some of the benefits our parents value.no
Established in 1495. Anything but old-school
As one family of Schools with a pedigree stretching back to 1495, we share some lovely traditions and timeless values of courtesy, kindness, confidence and academic excellence. Fairfield Prep School for example, awards a Courtesy Cup each term and the Grammar School maintains a tradition that only Sixth Form boys can walk on the grass in the Quad.
With more schools and resources, we can widen opportunities for every pupil, including offering no less than 29 choices at A Level and exhaustive clubs, teams, tours and trips. We are also able to embrace the very latest technology, where we believe it adds value, including iPads, virtual reality, 3D printing, sensory learning and apps which keep parents connected with their children’s progress and School events.no
Join the Family
We are one Foundation with a tangible kindred spirit across the Schools which fosters a winning combination of pride, selflessness and unity. Every pupil is known, cared for and cared about. That sense of family is amplified by our many teachers who were once pupils, the many more parents who are former pupils, the third, fourth and even fifth generation families at Loughborough and the many siblings attending the same or different schools.yes It is impossible to believe that so much of excellence in tradition, in continued high educational standards and in grace of surroundings should be regarded lightly by this or any future generation.
