It builds on the solid foundation of success already put in place by previous teachers and looks to give children greater independence by opening up further Co-Curricular opportunities to them. For some pupils, this means the beginning of them using the bus to get to and from school or taking their first foray.

For those pupils who have been with us a number of years, they will now be really seeing the benefit of a holistic Amherst education. They will be safe in the knowledge that they can take risks in their learning and feel confident that they will be supported and challenged as they need.  By now, our pupils are increasingly confident in their approach to life and feel willing and able to put themselves into new situations and to try new things.  Year 4 is often a year where pupils bloom into independence, but we continue to encourage kindness and ask them to use their moral compass to begin to make decisions that will empower themselves and others.  We often see pupils joining us in Year 4 and they quickly adapt and bloom revelling in the continuing swimming, Forest School and wide ranging Co-Curricular provision.
