The Opportunity

The Tilsley Sixth Form Scholarship provides a wonderful opportunity for a Sixth Former with a household income of £40,000 (or demonstrating financial need) or less, wishing to attend Loughborough Amherst School in September 2023.

The Award

The scholarship is funded by a generous donation from an OLCS (Our Lady’s Convent School) alumna and, with additional SAP (School Assisted Place) funding from Loughborough Amherst School, could cover up to 100% of school fees.

As a condition of the award the holder will commit to a written update in their first term and at the end of each school year to share with the donor the opportunities they have had thanks to the funding, and the difference the scholarship has made to them.

Criteria

In addition to a household income of £40,000 or less (or significant financial need) the scholarship applicant should be able to demonstrate through school reports, predicted GCSE grades, and co-curricular endeavours that they would thrive at Loughborough Amherst School and embrace all the opportunities open to them. Although not a requirement of the award a musical background could be advantageous.

Sixth Form at Amherst

Our Sixth Form enjoys some of the best ‘value added’ progress in the Midlands, achieving beyond their early predicted Grades enabling most to take up highly sought-after degree courses at Russell and 1994 Group universities. Our UCAS support is second to none, and we cherish a wonderful track record of helping our academically ambitious students achieve places at Oxford and Cambridge. But life in our Sixth Form is about much more than academics. It is about embracing a community and a way of life that celebrates individual differences and the joys of community and ensures that everyone leaves us with the warmest of memories and a strong set of friends for life.

What We’re Looking For

The Tilsley Sixth Form Scholarship is available to pupils who show great potential and the ability to thrive at Loughborough Amherst School. We welcome applications from pupils with strong academic and/or musical backgrounds, who would make the most from a place in Loughborough Amherst’s Sixth Form and the extraordinary musical opportunities on offer at the Loughborough Schools Foundation. As a guide, and in consideration of a pupil focusing on music as a pathway, the award holder will be roughly Grade 7 level and above, for those pupils without music as a pathway a strong academic profile would also be considered.
