The curriculum focuses on the government’s Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines but we add to this through our teaching of Languages (French), ICT, Music and P.E., which are all taught by specialist teachers in their own specialist teaching areas.  Most of the morning sessions comprise of primarily literacy and numeracy and it is here through well planned and clear learning goals, children learn the basics and have a good foundation upon which to build their future learning.

The work covered builds upon the phonic, literacy and numeracy skills the children learned in Reception.  Learning is fun and we tailor the national curriculum to our children’s needs, to make it interesting, exciting and relevant to young children.

In Year 2, the children participate in a range of subject areas to give them a broad and varied curriculum.  These are Life Skills, R.E., Music, Drama, ICT, Art, DT and French.  These subjects are regularly taught by either their class teacher or a subject specialist.  Year 2 children have the opportunity to join weekly lunchtime clubs including Ball Skills, Tennis and Dance.
