The catering team in Fairfield kitchen cook a staggering 800 meals per day, not to mention looking after the food for breakfast club, after school club and all the food for the sports fixtures!

And thanks to the expertise of our busy catering team, each day the pupils at Fairfield Prep look forward to a delicious and nutritious lunch, cooked in our own kitchens from scratch. We offer our pupils a choice of meals and desserts as well as a self-serve salad station, with a focus on variety, taste and healthy eating.  Our experienced catering team have been trained to follow and understand a wide range of dietary needs, including those related to culture, religion and allergies.

We also have our fruit stand, piled high with a variety of fresh fruit, which we encourage pupils to take a piece from each day.

We understand the importance of good-quality and nutritionally balanced meals in nourishing both bodies and minds. We therefore ensure that our pupils can choose from a variety of healthy, delicious and nutritious meals each day.

Meals are freshly cooked in our kitchens daily, with menu updates reflecting pupil preferences, food trends and use of seasonal produce. As part of our continued efforts to promote healthy eating, we strive to add extra vegetables to dishes, ensuring that our meals are highly nutritious.

Where possible, we avoid processed and genetically modified ingredients and limit the use of salt in the food we prepare. We also avoid MSG and do not use undesirable food colourings, sweeteners, flavourings, preservatives or trans fats*.

As well as hot, cooked lunches, we offer a self-serve salad bar, boasting a wide range of freshly made salads, and a choice of fresh fruit options.

We use local suppliers to provide us with seasonal, locally grown produce, as well as local butchers who source British meat with Red Tractor accreditation, and free-range eggs collected from local farms.

All meat we serve, including Halal meat, meets the five freedoms of animal welfare and our fish is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council or the Marine Conservation Society.
