ISI Inspection Reports

Loughborough High School is regularly inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). This is the body approved by the Department of Education for the purpose of inspecting schools belonging to Independent Schools Council (ISC) Associations and reporting on compliance with independent school regulations. ISI inspections are also carried out under arrangements of the ISC Associations for the maintenance and improvement of the quality of their membership.

Students at Loughborough High School have been praised in their recent inspection. Visited by the Independent Schools Inspectorate LHS achieved an excellent rating across all categories.

The categories cover every aspect of school life: pupil achievement, co-curricular opportunities, quality of teaching, personal development of pupils, pastoral care, health and safety, governance and leadership.

In particular, the inspection lauded the girls themselves, saying, “The pupils’ attitude to learning is outstanding. They are confident in their abilities and secure in an atmosphere that values the exploration of independent ideas.”

Inspectors also praised the quality of teaching and leadership, which they noted “provides many opportunities for pupils to work independently and apply their skills actively.”

As a result, it was identified that all students make excellent progress, whatever their ability, with consistently excellent results in public examinations.

On academic and other achievements

“Pupils’ communication skills, in particular their ability to articulate opinions and listen respectfully, are excellent.”

Loughborough High School was also celebrated for the manner in which its pupils respect and value the diversity of their community, “Pupils understand the importance of celebrating difference and challenging discrimination and stereotypes.”

The inspection also applauded how “the use of mobile devices is seamlessly embedded as a learning tool because of forward thinking investment by governors in resources and training in the application of technology.” The report also commented that communication in all of its forms is a strength of the school.
