Back to Academic Overview

We aim to inspire and extend all girls academically at Loughborough High School. Our girls are some of the most academically able in the United Kingdom, and we harness that intellectual endeavour and spirit of enquiry in all we do. Our mantra is ‘extension for all’ and our provision aims to be inclusive for all in the community wherever possible, whilst still providing that bespoke guidance that the most able girls need through our Academic Scholars’ Programme.

Extension begins in classes, where stimulating, invigorating and sparky lessons naturally lead to questions and opportunities to delve beyond the curriculum at hand.

We are committed to ensuring that the girls enjoy a wealth of opportunities academically away from the classroom, whether that be in clubs, societies, trips out or by inviting prominent speakers in. As part of the Loughborough Schools Foundation we are able to enjoy a wide range of academic opportunities across the campus, for example through the 525 Foundation Lecture Series where leading national figures have delivered talks on matters regarding a wide range of topics. Our girls compete in external competitions, olympiads and national challenges: our Year 8 girls recently finished runners-up in a national mathematical IT challenge run by GCHQ.

We also recognise our duty to extending the very most able girls at Loughborough High School. Our Academic Scholars’ Programme aims to identify, support and champion the very most able girls.
