Whether for research, academic study or for recreation, a love of reading sits very much at the heart of our girls developing an enquiring mind, creative appreciation and a love of learning. At the heart of these enthusiasms sits our High School library.

If that very word conjures a traditional image of row upon row of books and an air of quiet appreciation, then the 15,000 titles we hold for pupils to explore, interrogate or simply curl up on a bean bag with, will satisfy that mental image.

But ours is very much also a library of tomorrow. The library search facility appears as an App on our School iPads. Pupils have their own log-in, are trained in how to search for material and to check book loans, reserve items and even post reviews.

We also have an eBook library, a wide range of magazines, on-line resources to access very current information and Mrs Burton, the Librarian, is on hand throughout the school day to offer help, advice and guidance.

The library is used by the sixth form as a study base and by classes when carrying out research. There is also a separate sixth form study room with study tables, coffee machine and bean bags which, at lunchtimes, functions as an ‘Apple Genius Bar’ for pupils who need help with their iPads.
