Religion affects every area of life and influences many decisions and actions. It is therefore important to be aware of the beliefs and practices of others so that our attitude is one of tolerance based on understanding.

By studying the various major religions pupils are also encouraged to reflect on their own beliefs and values. Ethics is a significant component within the syllabus and contemporary issues from euthanasia to genetic engineering form part of the discussion programme. Religious Studies is taken from Year 7 to Year 11 with options at GCSE, AS and advanced GCE. The approach is nondenominational, open and academic, and both examination and general lessons contribute significantly to the all-round development of the pupils.
