Hockey at the High School is in full swing with some tremendous victories being won.

Loughborough High Schools’s first XI team defeated St Peters, York last month to reach the England Hockey Tier 2 National semi-final. The game was very evenly contested for the majority, but the High School girls managed to score two great goals in the first half of the match to take the lead at half time.

In the second half, the girls put in excellent efforts, with determined defending limiting the chances of the opposition meaning they’ll be heading to the semi-finals. It’s certainly an incredible achievement so far for this squad, who last year were runners-up in the Tier 3 competition.

Additionally, Loughborough High School’s U13 hockey team played a sterling match in the quarter-final of the National Independent Schools Hockey Competition in December.  After going 1-0 down, they regained their composure with a fantastic display scoring three goals in the process.

The girls put up a great defence ensuring that the victory was theirs, finishing 3-2. They now wait to see who they will be up against in the semi-finals.

Hannah Grieve, Head of Hockey at Loughborough Schools Foundation said: “We are really proud of the girls and their successes during the Autumn term. Both teams have worked extremely hard and made lots of progress prior to Christmas. They have all been a credit to the school and we are excited to see what they can achieve in this Spring Term.”

Well done girls and good luck at the semi-finals!
