1000 Girls, 1000 Futures STEM Initiative for Zara

There is a growing worldwide need for professionals in STEM fields yet students, particularly women, are not pursuing careers in STEM fields at a time when these skills are most needed. To address this, the New York Academy of Sciences will develop a mentorship program that pairs 1,000 high-school-aged girls with mentors who study or work in STEM fields. The girls will receive year-long one-on-one mentor support, online training in foundational skills development, and the opportunity to attend an annual Program Summit. With this commitment, the Academy aims to apply the benefits of mentoring relationships to inspire and engage the next generation of female STEM leaders.
"I am honoured to be joining the 1000 girls 1000 futures programme with the New York Academy of Sciences. I am excited to share my enthusiasm for science with girls from around the world, as well as become a junior member of the academy."
