Artwork of the Week

Artwork of the Week featured image

The Judge of House Photography has selected this year’s winner, which is also our ‘Artwork of the Week’. Referring to the award-winning photo, the Judge wrote…

‘The best of the close-ups and the strongest photograph of the competition was George’s image of a spiralling shell. The photograph zooms in and crops out the edge of the shell creating an illusion of space and depth in the image that invites the eye around the image; the shell begins to appear like a moving snake or a winding tunnel. The photograph does not actually have the super crystal clear detailing on the surface on the shell but I think, in this case, it helps the image, it feels stylised. The colours and textures on the shell blur and blend making the composition look like a painting. Overall, George’s photograph shows technical skill and is playful with the inclusion of a spiral which suits the brief. Well done to George (Year 7 Pulteney)… you are the 2019 winner!’
