Half-Term Highlights: December 2024

Throughout November and December, Amherst pupils have enjoyed a range of activities, including our Retreat Day which focused on putting our Faith into Action and making a difference within our community as well as celebrating the festive season towards the end of term.
Community Impact
Sixth Form students helped take over 50 ‘bags for life’ full of donations to the Loughborough Area Foodbank based at the New Life Community Church. Food and other products were collected across the first half-term by the whole community, and we were delighted to be able to make such a sizeable donation to help. A huge thank you to the generosity of our community for supporting this effort.
Amherst Retreat Day
Pupils from all year groups took part in our Retreat Day this term and enjoyed a range of activities connected to our value of Faith in Action. Prep pupils made paper lanterns and decorated jam jars to remind them to recognise the light of Christ and to be the light for others, whilst older pupils were encouraged to explore how they can achieve their full potential spiritually, emotionally and socially.
Prep Nativity Performance
Celebration of the festive season began when Prep pupils performed their Nativity service to parents at the beginning of December. Full of difficult lines to learn and songs to sing, all pupils involved should be very proud of their performance!
Coming Together for Christmas Lunch
At the very end of the term, our whole school community came together to enjoy a delicious Christmas lunch – which was served by Amherst staff members! With Christmas music playing in the background and festive accessories visible for miles, everyone embraced the Christmas spirit as we drew the term to a close.
