Year 3 Grandparents’ Day and Remembrance

On Monday, the Year 3 children joined all of Fairfield in a poignant and moving Remembrance Service; a wreath was laid, the Last Post was played and two minutes silence was observed. Then the children were able to entertain grandparents and invited guests in the Eadon Hall with a medley of wartime songs. The double-team of Mr Morris and Mr West were on top form; the children responded with excellent singing and smiling faces.
Following this, the children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to speak to our visitors about their personal experiences of childhood and to look at a variety of wartime or childhood artefacts. As a reward to our visitors for giving up their time today, we invited them to stay for a traditional Fairfield school dinner. A truly memorable occasion.
