U9 Girls’ Hockey Tournament
Fairfield U9 girls travelled away to Foremarke Hall for the U9 Girls’ Hockey Tournament on Saturday 30 September 2017. The competition consisted of 5 teams including; Belper, Pennine Way, Foremarke 1, Foremark 2 and Fairfield.
After a few drills and a warm up, the tournament quickly commenced. The girls used the first game to get to know their positions, playing into space which helped to settle their nerves. With each game the team grew in confidence which allowed them to play the open style of hockey that we have been focusing on leading up to this tournament. They used solid blocks in defence, powerful passing into space and made accurate shots when available. With this style of play and a continuous solid back line we were able to keep a clean sheet and concede no goals during the whole of the tournament.
The U9 girls showed a great level of determination, team work and positivity throughout the day. Both Mr Wilson and Mrs Sutcliffe were extremely proud of their performance when achieving 1st place!
