Feeling very excited at the prospect of playing their first away fixture the girls made the short journey to play against Ratcliffe College. Both teams had strength in numbers, fielding large squads which tested the girls abilities to play out of position in order to allow for substitutions.

The A team got off to a strong, determined start, attacking the Ratcliffe D from the opening whistle. Continuous pressure was applied to their defence and the girls were duly rewarded with a very well taken goal. Fairfield continued to maintain the majority of the possession although at times did leave themselves exposed at the back to allow Ratcliffe to penetrate the Fairfield D. However, Fairfield raised their game too and scored a further two goals. Ratcliffe did not give up and sneaked a goal in the dying seconds to give Fairfield a deserved 3-1 victory.

The B team made a similar start, working well to defend their goal and move the ball up to create opportunities in attack. The girls supported each other well, working together as a team, some in their positions for the first time. Defensively, Fairfield cleared the ball well and with some super perseverance the girls broke through to score a well deserved goal to secure a 1-0 win.
