On Friday 16th October, the Fairfield IAPS Hockey Squad travelled to Repton School to play in the qualifying round of the IAPS National Finals.

With twenty four teams participating, it is an enormous competition with teams coming from far and wide to play. The girls were clearly thrilled to be a part of such an exciting competition and from the outset played a strong attacking game whilst always maintaining a wonderfully supportive team spirit. The results from their pool games were as follows:

Vs Hereford Cathedral School 1-0 loss, Vs St Olaves 3-0 win, Vs Solihull 0-0 draw, Vs Witham 1-0 loss, Vs RGS Grange 2-0 loss.

Fairfield finished 4th in the group puttingthem into the 9th-12th place play-offs to determine their final placing. Despite feeling a little disheartened at not going through to the quarter-finals, the girls kept their heads held high and played with renewed vigour to secure three, truly inspired victories and a 9th place position in the region.

Play-off results: Vs Warwick Prep 2-1 win on penalty shuffles, Vs Yarm 2-1 win, Vs Kings Hawford 1-0 win.

Congratulations to all the girls who represented Fairfield so well; we are very proud of your achievement. Thank you to all the parents who kindly gave their support and to Mr Hargreaves for some wonderful photos of a very memorable day.

Team: Lizzie (C), Anna (VC), Abigail, Lara, Annabel, Violet, Sahar, Isabelle, Chloe, Roma.
