Olympic Fortnight Begins!

Olympic Fortnight Begins! featured image

Our Olympic Fortnight kicked off in impressive fashion this morning, with a whole school procession around the Endowed Schools’ grounds. With the school band playing as the children marched, it was Greece (1B) who led the way, as is traditional at Olympic opening ceremonies, waving their flags and holding the Fairfield Olympic Torch. It will be their turn to host an Olympic Assembly this Friday, on the 2004 Games in Athens. Following on from them, our Reception Children and then following on by Year group, with the Year 6 children bringing up the rear. The last class to march were 3A who have the fortune of being the host city.

There was then a whole school assembly, with the brass band playing the music from Chariots of Fire and singing from the Fairfield Senior Choir. The Year 5 children then demonstrated to the rest of the school an Olympic dance routine they have been learning and one that the rest of the school will learn in the coming weeks. Before the assembly concluded with an Olympic blessing and the brass band playing the children out.

Tomorrow it is our annual Sports Day for our Years 3 – 6.
