Match Report – Year 4 Rounders

On Thursday all the year 4 girls travelled to Spratton Hall to play in their first ever rounders match. The had been so excited all week and looked forward to playing.

Asha’s team, pictured below, lost the toss and were put into bat by Spratton. The girls showed that they had some sound batting skills but unfortunately they took a few too many chances with a number of the girls being stumped out on their first bat. We still managed to score 2 full rounders which gave the girls some encouragement. Spratton went in to bat and our fielders were quickly called into action. They made some very wise decisions and managed to stop several full rounders being scored, well fielded. After a quick team talk at half time the girls were keen and surprised to know they would bat and field again. Their batting improved greatly in the second innings with more girls making greater contact with the ball to score a total of 6 1/2 rounders. Spratton went into bat and the score was kept to a minimum until the last 6 balls when Spratton hit some superb shots and scored 5 full rounders. The girls should be so proud of their performance and the team spirit they displayed, a good effort girls well done. The final score was 6 1/2 to Fairfield Spratton 15
