  • Over 25% were awarded grade 9
  • Over 50% were awarded grade 9-8
  • Over 70% were awarded grade 9-7

We’re proud to announce that over 1 in 4 grades awarded were 9. This is equivalent to A**, the highest grade possible. Well over half have been awarded grades 9-8, the equivalent of A** and A*. 77% have been awarded grades 9-7, the equivalent of an A grade and above. 15 girls – 23% of the year – have scored at least 8 grade 8s or 9s, the equivalent of at least 8 grade A*s.

These outstanding results build upon our exceptional A Level results of last week, confirming, once again, the High School’s place as one of the leading academic independent girls’ schools in the United Kingdom.

As well as their GCSE studies, the girls greatly benefitted from our Thursday afternoon extension opportunities to gain further qualifications in the HPQ, Additional Maths, Sports Leaders, or to join the Combined Cadet Force.

Dr Miles, Head of Loughborough High commented:

It has been such a pleasure watching this year group progress through the school. They are the first cohort that I have taken through from the start of Year 7 to GCSEs as Head of Loughborough High, having joined the school in Easter 2019. It has been such a joy seeing them grow, enjoy all we offer both inside and outside the classroom, but most importantly have fun. Their achievements today are testament to years of hard work by the girls, their parents and carers, and of course our talented staff. I am absolutely delighted for all today.

Loughborough High School has recently been shortlisted for the Independent Girls’ School of the Year award. As the oldest academic girls’ school in the UK, the High School celebrates its 175th Year in 2025.

Ketan and Mita’s daughter will be attending the High School Sixth Form after receiving excellent GCSE results. They commented: “We love the fact that she’s achieved what she wanted to achieve. The School has really encouraged her to succeed and the support has been excellent. We’re really proud parents.”

Girls move on to study a wide range of subjects in Sixth Form from STEM to Latin, Music technology and more, with 28 A Levels to choose from. We offer a wide breadth of subjects to ensure our girls have every opportunity to prepare for their future careers and beyond. Students can choose up to four courses and some choose to also take on an extended qualification worth half an A level.

All students are offered bespoke support as they transition into adulthood. This specialist guidance means a vast majority of students go on to study at Russel Group and Oxbridge universities.

If you would like to learn more about Loughborough High and how we might support your daughter, why not attend our Open Morning.
