Event Type: Public
Join us on Wednesday 26 March at 6pm for an online talk from John Weitzel – Behind the Scenes: The Burton Service 1995.
John Weitzel spent 38 wonderful years at the Grammar School with seven of those years being dominated by planning and delivering the School’s Quincentenary in 1995, followed by the visit of The Queen in 1996.
As part of the 1995 celebrations, John planned a mammoth outing for the whole school to London for the Burton Service in St Paul’s Cathedral – but have you ever wondered what went into planning a school trip for over 1,000 boys? Well, now you can find out! John will take us behind the scenes of the 1995 Burton Service from coaches, picnics and parking fines to packed lunches and police escorts – there is so much to unpack that you probably never knew!
John will also reflect on the help he was given by all the organisations involved but most of all by his colleagues and the boys themselves, who enabled him to deliver a day to remember.
All the details you need!
