Director of Development
I joined the Loughborough Schools Foundation in September 2019 after four and half years as Director of Supporter Relations at Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. I’ve worked in fundraising for charities since May 2000 when I started at the British Red Cross – prior to that I worked for Tarmac buying concrete mixers. My role in the Development office is to work across the Foundation to increase the impact that we achieve from voluntary income.
Outside of work I volunteer as Chair of the Institute of Fundraising East Midlands committee and have a season ticket for Nottingham Forest – where my hopes and expectations are frequently dashed. I’m married to April and our son Archie is a keen footballer so our weekends are spent transporting him around Leicestershire to various training sessions and matches.
I started my career with Loughborough Schools Foundation in 2016 having worked at Loughborough University as Outreach Officer, supporting pupils locally and nationally, particularly those from a widening participation background.
My current role is varied with increasing focus on fundraising and assisting in delivering the Foundation’s ambitious programme to fund life-changing pupil bursaries. With this in mind I am now a member of the Institute of Fundraising and have recently completed, in partnership with the Institute of Development Professionals in Education, a Certificate in Fundraising.
As a former pupil at Our Lady’s Convent School (OLCS) I really value establishing connections and building relationships across the Foundation and with our alumni. My children are also connected, my daughter, now at University, was one of the last leavers of OLCS, and my son is currently studying at Loughborough Grammar School.
I have always enjoyed a variety of sport, both participating and supporting, and in my spare time have recently begun running again. I also have a love of tap dancing and try to visit the theatre as much as I can.
Data and Development Officer
I joined the Development Office team in March 2018 following a career break to raise my three daughters. My early career was in medicine so joining the Loughborough Schools Foundation was quite a change – each day is different and it’s a pleasure to work in an organisation constantly striving for excellence. My main responsibilities within the team are managing the alumni database with its 22,000 alumni records and managing the office’s finances.
I have three daughters within the Foundation, one at Fairfield and two at Loughborough High School. Spare time is therefore sparse but generally spent outdoors, walking or cycling, plus increasingly cheering from the sidelines of a hockey pitch. I’m currently studying for my dayskipper qualification so hope to add some sailing to that mix.
