2017 Grafton Morrish Finals, 29th Sep – 1st Oct
Friday PM – Loughborough lost to St George’s Weybridge (who got to quarter finals and lost to overall winners) 2-1, at Hunstanton.
Saturday – Loughborough played with Oakham and Uppingham in the Solihull Salver at Royal West Norfolk Golf Club, and pairs scored 30, 28 and 28, with Nick Preedy and Zach Sananes sneaking the 30 points leading score from the school, equalling 86 points, finishing overall 8th.
Top 4 go through but 4 teams could not play the Sunday, so we snuck in 4th position.
Sunday AM – Loughborough got drawn with Solihull (who won the Solihull Salver on Saturday with 94 points), and successfully beat them 2.5-0.5, which did not go down well with their 25 supporters walking around.
Sunday PM – Committee Bowl Final – Loughborough were up against local rivals Oakham. 3 great matches, but the overall strength of this year’s squad was too much to handle and the final 6 holes on the back nine were crucial for a 2.5-0.5 win.
This years Grafton Morrish Final’s weekend team was Friday and Saturday – Phil Saul (2) & James Pretty (3), George Griffiths (2) & Harry Telfer Smith (4), and Nick Preedy (2) & Zach Sananes (6). Sunday Dave Saul replaced Zach Sananes.
Debuts for Zach Sananes and Harry Telfer Smith this year, and feedback from both is they are looking forward to next year’s qualifying at Gog Mgog Golf Club on Sunday 13th May.
Brilliant weekend from the OLAGS Grafton Squad, and we all look forward to next year. The Committee Bowl Trophy will be presented to the School at a forthcoming assembly by Robert Hallam.
