Inspiring our current footballers with a unique experience at the Etihad Stadium

This month was a thrilling one for football enthusiasts at LSF. We were incredibly fortunate to have Simon Timson (FFD 1982, LGS 1989), Performance Director at Manchester City Football Club, arrange a truly unique and unforgettable experience for our senior school pupils at the Etihad Stadium.

Earlier this month, female footballers from LHS and LAS went on to watch the intense Manchester City vs Manchester United match in the Women’s Super League. The pupils also enjoyed a detailed tour of the training facilities. They heard from Simon about the various career paths in elite sports, leaving them inspired about the opportunities available beyond the pitch.

The excitement continued a couple of weekends later when the boys from LGS visited the stadium to see Manchester City in a dominant 5-1 victory over Luton. Their exciting day was made even more special with a tour of the Man City training grounds and a personal talk from Simon about his extensive career in elite sports.

Both groups of pupils came away from the trips with great memories of exciting football matches and a renewed sense of inspiration. These experiences, providing a glimpse into the world of professional sports, have ignited aspirations and opened their eyes to the possibilities in the world of elite sports.
