Three Loughborough Grammar School pupils performed in Curve’s production of Evita over the Christmas holidays, with the three being selected from 500 auditionees.

Jude and Lorcan from Year 9 and David from Year 11 all performed at the premiere preview and at the prestigious press night, followed by a six-week run of the stripped back musical directed by Nikolai Foster.

LGS’s Head of Drama Sally Bruton says; ‘We were incredibly proud that they were able to audition and then selected for Evita. It was an amazing achievement for them.’

She adds: ‘With the scale and reputation of Curve’s work – regularly transferring work to the West End and to tour Internationally – I likened it to the theatrical equivalent of playing for a Premiership youth team for staff.’

The boys performed in nearly 30 performances with the lead characters as well as the understudies for Evita and Che. They also performed to lyricist Sir Tim Rice when he visited the show.

Sally adds: ‘After speaking with the boys, they all loved their time onstage and gained insight into how theatre works both on and offstage, as well as learning so much about performing from working so closely with professional performers. Many of our staff made the effort to visit between November to January, to show their support for our students. Everyone who saw the performance was impressed with how seamlessly they fitted into a professional production. What an achievement and experience to have had.’
