One of Kristy Miall’s (née Shaw, LHS 2003) first ever memories was of her as a super proud preschooler rocking a Care Bear wonderland in her bedroom, decked out with the coolest wallpaper and a matching duvet cover. Fast forward a few years, and guess what? She’s only just gone and landed her dream job as Director of Global Marketing at Cloudco Entertainment – the same company behind those lovable Care Bears.

Kristy says; ‘I’m so excited to dive into this adventure with a fantastic team. I have found the photograph of three-year-old me in my bedroom surrounded by all things Care Bears and also had my celebratory nail art done as a reward!’

Kristy left the High School in 2001, after GCSEs and went on to do her A levels elsewhere. She says; ‘A big regret in my life, is that I didn’t stay at LHS to complete my A-Levels, although of course everything happens for a reason!’

After completing her A-Levels in Literature, English Language and Sociology, Kristy studied English and US Literature at the University of Essex. Before her role at CloudCo Entertainment she was responsible for leading marketing campaigns for some of the most ‘amazing brands’, mostly in broadcast, including The Great British Bake Off (one of her favourite shows!)

She says, ‘Seeing my campaign for the Australian Open shine on the largest advertising screen (at the time) in Europe – Piccadilly Lights, and working with tennis player Roger Federer on his documentary ‘Portrait of a Champion’ are most definitely highlights. Also winning a Campaign Award for Best B2B Marketing Event in Asia for NBCUniversal.’

Kristy’s advice to school leavers today is ‘to think outside the box’. She adds; ‘Employers get so many emails, CVs and cover letters. One needs to think of something to make them stand out. For example, if you were to apply for a role at Disneyland, my advice would be to write your cover letter in the style of a Disney song.’

Thinking back to her time at School Kristy recalls that her education opened so many doors for her and it gave her the confidence to push herself further than she thought she could go. She adds: ‘If I could tell my 16-year-old self something it’d be that the hard work will definitely be worth it in the end!’

Kristy has maintained her school friendships and when asked how she would describe her time at LHS in three words, she answered, ‘Transformative, pivotal and fun.’

Her ambition for the future is to try and make the world a slightly happier place, even if it is just with more Care Bears.
