Celebrating Christmas with Carols by Candlelight

On Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 December, Amherst hosted the annual Carols by Candlelight Service which was held in the LAS Chapel.  

The Junior Choir, made up of pupils from across The Foundation, delighted audiences with their angelic voices, singing carols such as ‘Come All Ye Faithful’ and ‘Glory, Glory’, with the congregation joining in at various stages throughout the evening. The audience, comprised of parents, alumni, Governors, staff, and the Sisters of Providence, was treated to an exceptional performance by the Year 7 Choir in front of the beautiful candelabras and soloists. 

LAS Head, James Neville, who has experienced Carols by Candlelight for the first time opened both evenings with a personal Christmas message and reflected on the celebration of Christmas. The service also included readings from pupils and Governors.  

With thanks to the Parents’ Association, guests were invited to enjoy mulled wine and mince pies after the service, surrounded by Christmas trees decorated by LAS pupils – a perfect way to get everyone into the Christmas spirit!
