Carol Service and Tableaux

On Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 December the High School hosted the 98th Tableaux in the Main Hall. Alumni volunteers, donors and regular Tableaux goers joined us for a drinks reception where they were able to look through Tableaux archives, enjoy some delicious nibbles and reminisce and compare notes with fellow alumni on their Tableaux experiences whether it was talking about the part they played or the part they always wanted to be!

This year alumni were able to watch the service from the balcony – much to everyone’s delight! Guests were then treated to a beautiful Tableaux and Carol Service where Year 13 pupils recreated life stills of paintings such as The Annunciation, The Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth and The Angel’s Announcement just to name a few. Each Tableau was also accompanied by readings. The choir also led the audience with carols such as O Holy Night, In the Bleak Midwinter, Star of light Silent Night and Carol of the Bells.

Following the end of the service guests enjoyed mince pies and mulled wine and an opportunity to mingle with pupils who had been part of the service – some of whom were still sporting their beards and grey appearance!

The LHS Carol Service and Tableaux is a long standing tradition and we can’t wait to celebrate 100 years of this service in 2025!
