Mrs Collington’s Retirement

Mrs Collington’s Retirement featured image

Mrs Collington (Jo) is retiring this Summer after 33 years of outstanding service at Fairfield. She has worked across many year groups inspiring hundreds of children as well as holding many positions of responsibility such as Pre-Prep Mathematics Coordinator and Pre-Prep Sports’ Day Coordinator. The two posts really did complement each other, particularly in keeping count of the myriad of ways in which the rules were ingenuously circumvented for the blue-ribbon event for the mums and dads race during Pre-Prep Sports’ Day.

Jo said “As a young 26-year-old teacher, I arrived at Fairfield in September 1989 rather overwhelmed to say the least! After meeting staff, children and families I immediately felt at home and the last 33 years have flown by. I’ve had the privilege of working with so many amazing people and taught so many fantastic children (and on occasion, their children too!). I have loved my time in the classroom and during many cross-country fixtures and sports days. I will treasure my memories forever. Fairfield is an amazing school, which I am fortunate that my own children were also able to enjoy.”

“I now hope to spend more time with family and have enrolled to become a guide runner for the blind, which I am very excited about. I also hope to return to Fairfield to help out and see everyone. Wishing all of those I have been lucky enough to teach all the very best wishes for the future.”

We are all truly grateful for everything Mrs Collington has done for Fairfield and wish her all the very best for a well-deserved and happy retirement.
