Loughburians Golf Society – Spring Trophy

After a lengthy delay due to Covid 19, the 2020 Spring Trophy event was played at Stanton on the Wolds Golf Club on Monday 17 August.  Nine Loughburian golfers arrived around 1.00pm to enjoy a sandwich lunch before play commenced at 2.00pm.  Despite a heavy shower whilst having lunch the afternoon remained dry and warm, even though there were a few rumbles of thunder close by.  The scoring on the day was very good with Dave Barnett and Phil Scott finishing joint 3rd with 35 stapleford points.  Paul Graveling was second with 37 points, 3 points behind Richard Underwood who amassed an amazing 11 points in the last 3 holes to finish with a winning total of 40 points off a handicap of 12.  Well done Richard!  The Spring Trophy presentation was carried out on the terrace overlooking the 1st hole, immediately after the golf as the usual meal after golf was a casualty of Covid restrictions imposed by the club.

The next event, at which all Loughburian golfers are welcome, is the Autumn Trophy at Coxmoor on the afternoon of 1 October.  There are currently 16 golfers down to play in that event and it would be great to have a few more, so if you’d like to play please email Dave Barnett on davebarnett25@hotmail.com
