Speaker announced as Richard Merriman (LGS 70-77)

Richard would be regarded as one of the School’s best cricketers. Whilst here he captained England Schools’ U15 XI and he holds the record of 2655 runs for the 1st XI. In addition, he was to star in two of John Moore’s Gilbert & Sullivan Operas – Princess Ida and then playing the role of Pooh-Bah in the Mikado.

After a degree in Education and Sports Science at Loughborough University and a MA in English Local History from Leicester, Richard decided to follow a career path in education whilst also playing Minor Counties cricket for Dorset and Cambridgeshire. He attained his first Headship in 1997 and finished his career as Head at Foremarke Hall, Repton’s Prep School.

In retirement, he has continued to pursue these two strands forming his own company RPM British and International Services, based on his experience in creating Foremarke Dubai; and during the Summer of 2019, Richard was presented with his England Seniors Cricket cap when making his debut for England against Australia in the Grey Ashes.
