Old Loughburians’ Golf Day at Luffenham – 28 April 2017
The weather was perfect as the OL team of 6 golfers set off in this 36 hole four ball better ball competition. (Teams of 2 with both team members playing each hole and the best net score (after handicap adjustment) of the 2 counting). Par score for each pair is 36 points with the best 2 team scores from each school counting in the morning and afternoon rounds.
The OL team consisted of Trevor Tunnicliffe & Chris Wreghitt, Jonathan Carlisle & Rich Alexander and Hatj & Steve Foister. After 18 holes, the scores of all 5 competing schools were really close with Old Oundleians & Old Uppinghamians tied on 8 under par (80 points), us joint second with Old Ratcliffians on 7 under par and Old Stamfordians bringing up the rear with a very respectable 4 under par.
In the afternoon Old Ratcliffians changed their team and bought in fresh talent in the form of Abe Mee who along with Lindsay Buckingham scored 44 points (8 under par) on their own. They were ably supported by the Macauley brothers (Declan and Sean) who scored 43 points (7 under par) and so they finished on a fantastic score of 22 under par to win the event by 7 shots from Old Oundleians who were second and us third on a very creditable 15 under par, our best ever score in the event which would have been good enough to win in previous years!
The best performers for us on the day were Hatj and Steve Foister in the morning round with 4 under par (40 points) and Jonathan Carlisle & Rich Alexander in the afternoon round with an outstanding 6 under par (42 points).
