Old Girls’ Hockey Fixture

Old Girls Hockey Fixture on Saturday 10 September:

Ex 1st team captains Evie Powel (Hockey) & Ellie Emmett (Netball) were given the task of organising the Old Girls Teams ready for this fixture. Our current 1st Teams have this as their first fixture of the year.

These fixtures are not only to bring the old girls back but also to test our current 1st team pupils. These fixtures are in honour of Jo Dyer, who was a wonderful sports performer herself. Both the Hockey & Netball Trophies are honoured in her name and the winning captain gets to take home a mini replica.

Hockey: In dreadful conditions all players turned out with a smile…the game was exciting from start to finish. The current 1st team stepped up to the mark and played some of their best hockey to date. The Old Girls were a mixture of years and took a little longer to gel together. After an exciting and enjoyable game the current 1st Team walked away with a 3-1 win.

Netball: This game was a little more one sided with the current 1st VII dominating from start to finish. The Old Girls were a little behind the pace although continued to fight until the bitter end. With the score line finishing 33-14 in favour of the current LHS 1st VII.

This was a wonderful, competitive but enjoyable, day where sport brought back the old girls to interact and play against the current 1st teams. It was fantastic to see and speak to old faces and see parents come to show their support. After the games we enjoyed refreshments and shared valuable memories from ‘back in the day’!
