Pioneers Enjoy a Special Story Time

Children in our Pioneers room welcomed a special guest to their story time session this morning – Mr. Neville, Headmaster at Amherst School.

Mr. Neville read Jill Murphy’s Peace At Last as the children gathered around and listened carefully. Afterwards, they performed one of the Christmas Carols they’ve been rehearsing ahead of their upcoming Nativity performance.

Impressed by the clarity and rhythm of their singing as well as their attentiveness, Mr. Neville praised the children for their listening skills and ability to concentrate for the duration of the story.

Interactive experiences like this are key to helping our children prepare for their next steps after Nursery and, as our Pioneers room is the final stage of their journey with us, it is a great way to help children get used to meeting new friendly faces.

For those who have chosen to move up to the Prep School at Amherst, building links with staff members at the School can help to make the transition beyond Nursery easier.

Pioneers are also encouraged to build familiarity with Amherst’s facilities; we have regular sessions at the Amherst library, and we often use their Chapel for services such as our Harvest Festival and Nativity production.

As part of the Loughborough Schools Foundation, we value the close relationships we have with our colleagues across campus and the head start that this gives to our children to prepare for School life.
