Our Developers Discover Autumn

From messy play and pumpkins to painting and printing with apples, children in our Developers room have been busy enjoying a range of exploration activities this autumn.
The Developers room is the starting point of our children’s journey at Loughborough Nursery and is currently home to children from 5 months old up to 15 months, although we also care for babies as young as 6 weeks old.
At this early stage in the children’s development, the experienced team within Developers focus on building their independence and hone in on sensory experience.
Activities concentrate on the sensations of texture, touch and feel and encourage our developers to explore these feelings through play. This autumn, messy play has involved pumpkin pulp, pinecones, feathers and tree bark!
To further encourage independence, all toys are at the children’s level meaning they can choose what they want to play with. Similarly, we offer a selection of two different activities every afternoon for children to get involved with.
As each room at the Nursery is considered a stepping stone to the next, Developers is also about preparing our children for the next stage of their journey with us.
In addition to learning through play, developers are supported to build confidence in skills such as walking and being able to feed themselves, before moving on to our Investigators room once they’ve found their feet.
Over the next few weeks, activities continue to have an autumnal theme. Coming up, developers will be creating their own Bonfire pictures by mark-making in colourful sand and painting handprint poppies to mark Remembrance Day.
We look forward to seeing our current developers continue to flourish and enjoy a wide range of seasonal explorative activities.
