From Developers to Investigators; the Next Step

Children in our Investigators room are ready to begin exploring the world around them and to discover their own independence. With an age range from one to two years old, this is a key time for Investigators to build upon their physical skills.

Activities that take place in this room are centered around the key skills of walking, talking and interacting with both Nursery staff members and the other children around them and include messy play, outdoor play and discovery play amongst a range of other exciting opportunities.

Alongside guided activities, investigators can decide to choose their own toys to play with, encouraging them to discover their own interests. The room has recently received a range of new toys, including a wooden climbing frame and slide!

The children also enjoy regular ‘circle times’ which focus on personal, social and emotional development. The sessions help them to build relationships with those around them and foster key skills related to building friendships.

In addition to play, staff members in the Investigators room also focus on language skills and encourage the children to begin to articulate their thoughts and feelings. Staff support children’s speech skills by asking open-ended questions which children in this room learn to respond to.

Our Investigators room is one full of life as the children’s individuality and character continue to shine through, and they continue to develop meaningful relationships with our dedicated Nursery staff.
