About Giving

Because every gift can change a life

Every gift to our Schools has the power to change a life.

Giving is part of our DNA. Our story began with a generous gift from Thomas Burton in 1495, a legacy that laid the foundations for the Schools we know today. Over five centuries later, we are a registered charity with pupils and the wider community at the heart of everything we do.

Thanks to the generosity of our alumni and friends, we can open doors that might otherwise stay closed and create life-changing opportunities for the next generation. Whether it’s helping a child from a low-income family find their place, enabling a young musician to shine, or supporting a pupil to take the next step in their journey, your donations make it possible.

Every gift, whether one-off, regular, or left in your Will, helps to fund bursaries, build inspiring spaces, and enhance the opportunities available to our pupils.

We believe in the power of education to transform lives. With your support, we can make that transformation possible.

Our promise to you…

No matter how much you give, or what you give to, we value your support and care about your experience of donating to Loughborough Schools Foundation.

That’s why we hold ourselves to the following promises.

We will:

  • Use gifts as intended, and consult donors if circumstances change
  • Fundraise only for priorities that support our mission
  • Acknowledge every donation and share its impact
  • Respect anonymity and protect donor data
  • Comply with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code
  • Operate efficiently, ethically, and transparently
  • Listen to donor feedback and respond promptly

We will not:

  • Mislead, pressure, or overwhelm potential donors
  • Accept gifts that conflict with our mission or values
  • Share or sell donor information
  • Pay commission-based fundraising fees

We assess all donations individually and may decline a gift if it poses legal, ethical, or reputational concerns.

“Giving our children the best education possible was, and always has been, the highest priority for us as parents. We believe education extends beyond pure academic achievement and should ultimately create well-rounded, healthy individuals with the knowledge and life skills needed in order for them to reach their full potential.

As such, we have, like many, sacrificed a great deal to ensure that our children have the opportunities that were never available to ourselves. Never once have we regretted this choice. I cannot imagine our son in any other environment than the type provided by Loughborough Grammar, a place that has provided him with friendship, stability and focus during the amicable, but protracted divorce of his parents.”

A parent whose son’s schooling is supported by donations

“We are extremely grateful for all the support that our daughter has been given. We have a long history with the Schools and this support has allowed that long association to continue. Our daughter is the sixth generation of our family to attend the schools. This has given her an amazing opportunity that she would otherwise have not been able to enjoy and experience without the help of others. She has embraced in full this opportunity, with praise from her teachers and excellent marks in her first term including being in the top set for maths. She is very proud to be a member of LHS, as are we as her parents and thank everyone for their support.”
