A Ruby Reunion

•

Following the success of their 30-Year Reunion in 2016, the Class of 1986 returned to celebrate four decades since leaving the blue gates, with an evening filled with nostalgia, laughter and the chance to reconnect with old friends.

The celebrations began with tours of their old schools, bringing many stories and memories flooding back, including hiding in lockers in Charles! The girls also commented on how much smaller everywhere felt and picked up on changes along the way, such as the art corridor now being carpeted, replacing the slippery wooden floor. They were also surprised to find that their Sixth Form common room had become the LHS Staff Room! The boys, meanwhile, recalled that Epinal Way didn’t exist whilst they were pupils, so they would all cycle or walk to school.

After the tours, everyone convened for a couple of drinks in the LGS Tower before heading over to dinner in the newly refurbished Hodson Hall Extension. This gave everyone the chance to see Hodson Hall itself, where much remained reassuringly unchanged from their days. The balcony, in particular, brought back memories of the school balls!

There was plenty of laughter and catching up to be done as we raised a glass to 40 years of friendships and memories.

A particular thanks to Emma Greetham (LHS 1986) for helping to organise this wonderful reunion.
