Art & Music Scholarships
mUSIC sCHOLARSHIP
We welcome applications from both internal and external pupils currently in Years 6, 8 and 11, for entry into Years 7, 9 and 12 respectively.
We welcome applications from both internal and external candidates; an offer of a Scholarship is conditional on gaining entry to one of the Schools in the Loughborough Schools Foundation.
Music Scholarships are available by audition in January to highly motivated and passionate young musicians, whether instrumentalists or vocalists. They provide pupils with tailored support and opportunities to develop their musical abilities through a close partnership with the Music School.
Music Scholarships will be tenable for the duration of a pupil’s time at the Loughborough Schools Foundation, subject to annual review. They comprise individually tailored support alongside specialist teaching, unrivalled ensemble experience and full access to the Enhanced Music Programme.
Scholars must be enthusiastic and able musicians who can demonstrate their passion for music as well as their technical skill. They will be mentored throughout their time at school to ensure they become the best musicians they can be. Competition for Scholarships is very fierce, and they are strictly limited in number. Based on audition, scholarships can carry up to 20% fee remission and some discount on the cost of music lessons.
Families may also apply for additional means-tested financial support through the School Assisted Places (SAPs) scheme, which, when combined with a Music Scholarship, could provide up to 100% remission of school fees, subject to eligibility and individual circumstances. Additionally, support towards the cost of individual music lessons is available through our Music Tuition Assistance scheme, for which both scholars and non-scholars are eligible to apply.
Deadline: Friday 8 January 2027
Audition: Thursday 22 January – Friday 23 January 2027
If you have any questions regarding the music scholarships, please do not hesitate to contact the music department by email (music.office@lsf.org) or by telephone (01509 283770).

Academic Scholarships
Academic Scholarships
Both Loughborough Grammar School and Loughborough High School offer a small number of Academic Scholarships each year, recognising pupils who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and achievement.
At Loughborough Grammar School, Academic Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and entrance examination performance. Scholars are invited to participate in the Scholar’s Journey, a programme of enrichment and extension activities designed to challenge, inspire and bring together like-minded pupils.
At Loughborough High School, Academic Scholarships recognise exceptional achievement in the Year 7 entrance assessments. Awards offer up to 10% remission of tuition fees, alongside the opportunity to participate in the prestigious Academic Scholars’ Programme.
There is no need to submit a separate application for an Academic Scholarship at either school, as pupils are automatically considered based on their entrance assessment performance.

Lorraine Simmons Scholarship
Available for the 2027-28 academic year
The Lorraine Simmons Scholarship was established in memory of a well-known Assistant Matron at Loughborough Grammar School. Alumni remember “Miss Sim” as an immensely warm and kind woman who looked after her boys with real care and friendship that in many cases continued for years after they left.
The scholarship is awarded on academic merit and financial need to support a boy who would never otherwise have the opportunity to attend the school. It provides 100% tuition fees for a bright local boy from Year 7 through to Year 13.
The recipient must live locally to the school, with a strong preference for a pupil from a disadvantaged background in Loughborough or Shepshed.

The Greasley Bursaries
With sincere thanks to alum Derek Greasley (LGS 1956), The Greasley Bursaries have been established to support prospective pupils of Loughborough Grammar School and Loughborough High School.
Derek, who joined Year 7 at Loughborough Grammar School in 1948, left a life-changing donation in his Will to fund ‘The Greasley Bursaries’. Open to pupils from Charnwood, the bursaries will cover tuition fees and potentially other associated costs, meaning that recipients can fully immerse themselves in the academic and co-curricular opportunities from Year 7 through to Year 13 at Loughborough Grammar School or Loughborough High School.
The bursaries are awarded on academic merit and financial need to support a boy or girl who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend either school.
