The Loughborough Schools Foundation Computer Science department seeks to appoint a Head of Department to lead and manage the curriculum across the Foundation. The successful candidate will manage a team of highly motivated and outstanding professionals in the design and development of a modern Computer Science curriculum. The successful candidate will set the vision for the department and continue growing the subject across all four schools. They will have a significantly reduced timetable, allowing for them to spend time in each of the four schools, working with relevant staff and developing the curriculum.

E-safety also forms part of the current computing curriculum, and the schools are keen to retain this. The successful candidate will also have responsibility for co-ordinating with the designated school safeguarding leads to help ensure the e-safety aspect of the computing curriculum, works in unison with anything the schools are covering in PSHE.

The programming language taught across the Foundation is Python and it is expected the successful candidate will be a competent programmer.

The Computer Science department has expanded rapidly since 2019 and is highly regarded by all schools in the Foundation. There has been a significant growth in the number of students studying the subject at GCSE, and this is now continuing into A-Level. All students in KS3 have one hour of Computer Science per week at each of the secondary schools.

Computer Science

Full Time / Permanent

The Loughborough Schools Foundation Computer Science department seeks to employ a Second in Department from September 2023.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of LSF Computer Science to lead the curriculum across our four schools. This person should have a solid oversight of the current computing curriculum and modern teaching & learning pedagogical practices. They should be an experienced teacher up to A-Level. They will teach predominantly at one of our senior schools, however, some elements of their timetable may require teaching in the other schools. They may also be asked to take on additional responsibility at the discretion of the Head of LSF Computer Science e.g. to lead the curriculum and exam coordination across a key stage.

The programming language taught across the Foundation is Python and it is expected the successful candidate will be a competent programmer.

Computer Science Teacher

The Loughborough Schools Foundation Computer Science department seeks to employ a teacher to take up this post in September 2023. The successful candidate will be required to deliver (as a minimum) KS3 and KS4 Computer Science across one or more of the secondary schools in the Foundation. KS5 teaching experience is not essential but is desirable.

Above all, we seek someone who is passionate about their subject, can deliver the subject with confidence and has high expectations for the children that they teach. An enthusiasm for developing the subject beyond the classroom through trips and extracurricular activities is also desirable. The department places high value on continuing professional development and encourages colleagues to keep abreast of subject change.

Teacher of PE

Loughborough Schools Foundation are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-qualified Teacher of PE based at Fairfield Preparatory School, on a part-time basis.

Required from September 2023 the suitable candidate will be a highly motivated and committed individual with an excellent track record of teaching and student progress. They will be expected to deliver outstanding lessons to ensure excellence and achievement for all learners, with a true commitment to raising standards. Applicants will need to have experience of using a variety of approaches to continually enhance teaching and learning throughout the school and across the full age and ability range. The ideal applicant also needs to have excellent communication skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships within the PE Team and across the Foundation.

Fairfield Preparatory School PE department teaches gymnastics, dance, netball, hockey, football, rugby, cricket, athletics, swimming, tennis, basketball, badminton, cheerleading, rugby and health related fitness, as well as a range of functional movement activities to help students develop their movement capacity as they grow and develop. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take responsibility for school teams and to lead on some sports in line with their expertise. Lessons will be delivered from kindergarten through to year 6.
