Solar panel investment reduces carbon footprint 

A large installation of solar panels at Loughborough Schools Foundation during the summer holidays brings the campus’ total to 1,600 panels, which is set to cut our carbon footprint by 92 tonnes of CO₂ every year which is enough to fill 20 Olympic-sized swimming pools! 

The move towards a cleaner, renewable source of energy reduces our reliance on traditional fossil fuels and reflects our investment in a more sustainable future. 

Amidst rising energy prices and colder winters ahead, the £0.7m investment will enable 25% of our electricity needs to be met by solar and will deliver long-term financial savings. As a sense of scale, the 1,600 panels would stretch 1.7km side by side, equivalent to the length of 28 football pitches! 

Now installed on 13 buildings across the Foundation’s site, the positive impact stemming from the installation will be felt over the long term. With the potential for solar panels to be installed on more buildings across the site, this investment highlights our commitment to the continual improvement of the Loughborough Schools Foundation campus.
