Students celebrate A Level success as Oxbridge places more than double

Students across Loughborough Schools Foundation are celebrating a strong set of A Level results, securing places at leading universities, specialist conservatoires, degree apprenticeships and international destinations. 

The Foundation has more than doubled its Oxbridge places compared to last year, with up to 14 students securing a highly sought-after place at Oxford or Cambridge.   

At Loughborough Grammar School, 71% of grades awarded were A*-B, with 37 students achieving three A grades or better, and 12 receiving three or more A* grades.  

Loughborough High School saw 21 students achieve three As or better, while all three students holding Oxbridge offers successfully met their grades and secured their places. The School’s Joan Davis Scholar recipient also achieved an outstanding A*AAA to secure her place at medical school. 

Pupils across the Foundation will progress to a broad range of courses including Medicine, Law, Engineering, English, Ancient History, Politics and International Relations, with university acceptance figures to be confirmed. 

Alternative pathways are also in demand, with students pursuing competitive degree apprenticeships with UK and international employers, specialist performing arts and conservatoire training at institutions including Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, as well as prestigious pilot training with the Royal Air Force.

This year group has made an outstanding contribution to the life of Loughborough Grammar – on the sports pitch, in concert and on stage, through the Combined Cadet Force, charitable endeavours and service to the community.  

“Their talent, energy and generosity have enriched our school immeasurably, leaving a lasting legacy. We are immensely proud of them and look forward to seeing the positive contribution they will make in the wider world.” 

At Loughborough Grammar School we saw over 120 A*/As were also achieved in STEM subjects and 100% A*-B in subjects including Art, Classical Civilisation, Greek, Latin, Spanish, German and Music.

There was particular success in STEM at the High School, with 100% of Further Mathematics students achieving A-A grades*, highlighting the strength of the School’s provision and the achievements of its young women in a traditionally underrepresented area

They should be incredibly proud of all that they have achieved throughout their time at the High School, and we wish them all the very best for their next steps.” 

The results reflect the Foundation’s wider approach to education, where academic achievement sits alongside opportunities for students to develop their talents, confidence and sense of responsibility beyond the classroom.  

As this year’s leavers move on to university, employment, specialist training and other destinations, they take with them not only their academic achievements, but the skills and experiences developed throughout their time to become well-rounded individuals and exceptional leaders for the future.
