We celebrated excellent GCSE results this morning, with strong performances across all three senior schools, as happy pupils and parents descended on the Loughborough Schools Foundation campus.

  • 7 Loughborough Grammar School boys achieved an outstanding clean sweep of grade 9s and a further 14 boys achieved all grade 8s or 9s.
  • Over 25% of grades at Loughborough High School were at Grade 9, with over half (54%) at Grades 9-8.
  • Pupils at Loughborough Amherst School also excelled, with over 40% of grades at Grade 9-7 – a huge 15% increase on the previous year.

Students move into Sixth Form with fantastic GCSE results.

Pupils foundation-wide opened their envelopes to fantastic GCSE results and we are incredibly proud of their achievements.

Loughborough Grammar School saw 57% of pupils receive the top grades of 9-7 and over a fifth of grades received were the top grade 9, a remarkable 22%.

Helen Foster, Head of Loughborough Grammar School, said: “We are extremely proud of our Year 11 achievements at GCSE. Our students have embraced the challenges over the GCSE years and shone in many areas. They have worked hard and enjoyed the input of our talented teachers to obtain these superb results.”

Loughborough Grammar School boys will now move on to the newly refurbished Sixth Form Centre, based in the historic Tower, to study their A Levels. The impressive facility opens its doors for the first time in September.

Leading independent girls’ school in the East Midlands, Loughborough High School saw 15 girls – 23% of the year – achieve at least 8 grade 8s or 9s, the equivalent of at least 8 grade A*s.

Head of Loughborough High School, Dr Fiona Miles, said: “It has been such a pleasure watching this year group progress through the school. Their achievements today are testament to years of hard work by the girls, their parents and carers, and of course our talented staff. I am absolutely delighted for all today.”

Amherst saw significantly higher results, compared to their previous year, six pupils secured predominantly Grades 8 or 9, with Ukrainian boarder Tymofil achieving Grades 7-9 in Maths and Sciences.

James Neville, Head of Loughborough Amherst School, said: “These GCSE results represent another high point for Amherst, following on from the school’s fantastic A Level results last week. We are very proud of all our pupils, whose dedication is reflected in these tremendous results, which complement their endeavors across so many aspects of school life, from the sports field to concert hall.”

All three senior schools have a sixth form and offer up to 30 A levels each. Students can choose up to four subjects and some choose to also take on an extended qualification worth half an A level.

All students are offered bespoke support as they transition into adulthood. This specialist guidance means a vast majority of students go on to study at Russel Group and Oxbridge universities.
