Spectacular Spamalot!
Parents, alumni and guests recently headed to the LGS Drama Studio in anticipation to watch the school production of Monty Python’s Spamalot. During the three-night run, the cast of pupils from across the Foundation, were responsible for running stage management, lighting, sound and follow spots.
With over one hundred props and projections to organise Head of Drama, Sally Bruton, was very proud of all the students who took part and was pleased with the smooth running of the production. She says: ‘All cast members grew into the style of the production and really made the audiences laugh from start to finish.’
Working with Head of Singing David Morris, this production was chosen to be performed as it was considered a challenge – but one that suited the current drama cohort.
Creative Writing team member and current Year 10 pupil, Freddie, said the set in the drama studio was ‘jaw-dropping and eye-catching’. He adds: ‘The use of the smoke machines throughout the play added to the electric atmosphere, as the audience waited in anticipation for the show to start.’
Freddie adds: ‘Monty Python is always weird and wonderful, and the cast fully plays into the weirdness of their characters and the plot. There were many hilarious moments throughout, and all the characters get their own special moment to shine.
