Loughborough Schools Foundation is delighted to announce the recent appointment of Mr Emyr Lewis as Head of Performance Sport.

This is a new role which has been created in response to LSF’s strategic sports offering for pupil athletes, alongside its commitment to increasing the expert coaching and performance support available to the aspiring sporting elite.

Mr Lewis will work with Mrs Jo Hackett, Director of Sport, and the Heads of Sport and PE to extend and shape the Foundation’s offer for its pupil athletes. Mr Lewis, who will still retain his role as Foundation Head of Rugby, will share his own experience as an elite athlete, having been a professional rugby player for over ten years.

Alongside this role, Player Pathway Programmes in Performance Sport including Rugby, Hockey and Cricket have been launched, with accompanying scholarships available from September 2025.  The programmes provide an enhanced and comprehensive training offer including gym sessions for strength and swim training for conditioning. The unique programmes will also provide a personalised development programme, performance lifestyle support and proactive tracking of physical development.

Mr Lewis said: As a Foundation we are striving to drive our student athletes to the next level of performance, application and understanding. By working with them through the Player Pathway Programmes, both on and off the field, our student athletes will gain huge benefits from the expertise of the Foundation sports staff.”

Mrs Hackett, Director of Sport said: “Loughborough Schools Foundation has a proud tradition of sporting achievement, underpinned by outstanding facilities, excellent staff, and a learning environment in which the positive benefits of sport are fully embraced and encouraged.

Our Player Pathway Programmes and Sport Scholarships provide talented athletes with the opportunity to not only continue to their own sporting journey, but also to act an inspiration to those around them, inside and outside the classroom, through the example they set in teamwork, discipline and resilience.”
