Loughborough Schools Music are the only Music department in the Midlands to have 'All-Steinway School' status; we have world class facilities, including five Steinway grand pianos.
Loughborough Schools Music has a thriving keyboard department and chamber music programme. Since becoming an All Steinway School in 2015, we have expanded to having nine teachers in the faculty, offering specialist early year tuition, high quality piano lessons, organ, jazz, as well as a Piano Duet club.
We also offer masterclasses with top pianists throughout the year and the annual day at Steinway Hall including a masterclass with a Steinway artist, followed by a showcase concert of our most talented pupils is one of the highlights of the year.
Chamber music is an integral and flourishing part of the faculty, with a number of quartets, piano trios, wind quintets rehearsing and performing regularly both in school and external venues, culminating in the Spotlight on Keyboard and Chamber Music concert in early May.
The Loughborough Piano Competition runs each year in February. This is an open piano competition for aspiring pianists in the East Midlands under the age of 19, with cash prizes and the chance of performing at Steinway Hall.
