Working for the Loughborough Schools Foundation is a real pleasure. As Manager of Wrap Around Care, Kindergarten administration and the lunchtime supervisors, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to interact with all the age groups within the school and love the diversity and exciting challenges that this role brings.

Known amongst the children as an avid Chelsea football and sports fan, I actually originate from Sheffield, and my childhood passion was following the red and white of Sheffield United.

I moved to Loughborough University to study a BA. Hons in Librarianship specialising in Children’s Literature, a decision that ultimately provided me with the research and analytical skills to develop my original career path in the business world.

Staying in the area, I began a retail career in customer relations, working for a subsidiary of Times newspapers, and Mattel Toys. Whilst continuing my studies in Marketing, I moved into brand and new product development roles, which included promoting Liberty stationery and Wembley footballs, dream roles! Identifying and supplying customer centric products and services was my ambition and during my career I was fortunate enough to become involved in Europe, Asia and the US before taking a sabbatical after the birth of my son.

When he started school, I took the opportunity to resume my career, using my knowledge of pre-school education and business, I became manager of a local Nursery. After six rewarding years, an opportunity arose to join Fairfield and I jumped at the chance. Working initially as a lunchtime supervisor, I completed my studies in Early Years and Childcare for children up to the age of 18.

I then became a Pre-Prep teaching assistant before starting Fairfield’s After School Club in 2013, which now also accepts Amherst pupils. A popular facility among both the children and parents this service is now used by over 50% of children attending the school.

Parental Quote “Thank you very much for providing such a responsive and flexible service. Genuinely much appreciated”

With the expansion of the school and launching of the new Kindergarten, my knowledge and experience from my previous nursery complemented the team during the set up and launch of the facility.

Personally having the benefit of an independent and grammar school education, I am well aware of the multiple benefits and opportunities such an education can offer. I firmly believe a child at the schools have every opportunity to develop and grow into the best they can be. I feel privileged being a small part of that journey.
