Claire Bale (née Bancroft) returns to Loughborough Schools Foundation as Director of Marketing & Admissions

Loughborough Schools Foundation is delighted to welcome alumna Claire Bale (née Bancroft) as its new Director of Marketing & Admissions.

A former pupil of Loughborough High School, Claire returns to the Foundation with more than 20 years of marketing leadership experience spanning communications, growth strategy, philanthropy, stakeholder engagement and diversity and inclusion. Her appointment marks a full-circle moment, bringing her professional expertise back to the schools that helped shape her own future.

After a successful 20 years in corporate marketing, Claire moved into education in 2018, joining the Senior Leadership Team of an independent school as Director of Marketing & Philanthropy. She later became Head of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for a national trust of schools, leading initiatives focused on belonging, representation and accessibility.

Reflecting on her journey, Claire said: “In 2018, I made the decision to focus my career on education because I wanted to apply my experience in a sector where purpose and impact go hand in hand. Education has a unique ability to transform lives, create opportunity and shape futures, and I have seen first-hand the difference it can make to young people and their families.”

Returning to Loughborough Schools Foundation holds special significance: “Loughborough High School gave me an outstanding education, but perhaps more importantly it gave me confidence and ambition. To return now in a leadership role feels incredibly special.”

A Passion for Lifelong Learning

Claire’s commitment to education extends beyond her professional life. Having studied English Literature before completing a Master’s degree in Marketing more than twenty years ago, she is now preparing to graduate with a second Master’s degree, this time in Education.

She has also recently returned to formal ballet training and examinations after a gap of more than twenty years.

“Learning should never stop. Whether it’s studying for a degree, returning to a hobby or developing a new skill, education is one of the most rewarding experiences we can have. Learning doesn’t end when you leave school. It’s a mindset that can enrich every stage of life.”

A passionate advocate for reading and literacy, Claire previously served as a trustee of Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature and has regularly contributed to local media discussions on books and reading.

“Books have shaped who I am. Reading develops curiosity, empathy and critical thinking, and remains one of the most powerful ways we can broaden our horizons and connect with the world around us.”

Opening Doors for Families

Claire believes schools have an important role to play in helping families navigate educational choices and understand the opportunities available to them.

“Families are making one of the most important decisions they will ever make for their children. Our responsibility is not simply to promote a school, but to help parents understand their options and feel confident in their choices. I am passionate about ensuring families feel informed, welcomed and empowered.”

Her background in diversity, equity and inclusion also shapes her approach.

“The strongest schools combine academic excellence with genuine inclusivity, openness and belonging. Great schools enable every child to thrive and every family to feel welcomed.”

Looking Ahead

As she begins her new role, Claire is excited to support the Foundation’s continued success and help more families discover the opportunities available across its schools.

“Education has the power to change lives. My ambition is to help more families discover the opportunities available at Loughborough Schools Foundation and to ensure every child can fulfil their potential. At its heart, education opens doors and inspires a lifelong love of learning. I’m incredibly proud to be part of that journey.”

We are delighted to welcome Claire back to Loughborough Schools Foundation and look forward to the experience, energy and inclusive vision she will bring to this important role.
